The CBFC is at it again — proving that in 2025, the Indian audience can handle blood, bullets, and broken bones… but God forbid they see Kiara Advani in a bikini for 9 extra seconds.

War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, was all set to deliver jaw-dropping action and sizzling chemistry on August 14, 2025. But before the film could even hit theatres, the “morality police” at the CBFC jumped in to snip away anything they deemed “too hot to handle

Reports say six audio-visual segments were muted for “inappropriate references” — because apparently, grown adults can’t hear certain words without losing their values. An “obscene” dialogue was replaced with an “approved” one (read: boring), and a character’s “obscene” gesture was completely deleted. But the real masterpiece? Ordering the makers to slash 50% of “sensual images” in Kiara’s Aavan Jaavan bikini shots — a grand total of 9 seconds. Yes, nine seconds. That’s the level of threat a bikini poses to the CBFC’s version of Indian culture.

What’s ironic is that the same audience can open Instagram and see ten times bolder content in under five seconds — but on the big screen, CBFC still thinks we’re living in 1950.

The film, initially clocking in at 2 hours, 59 minutes, and 49 seconds, was granted a U/A 16+ certificate on August 6. Just days later, the makers went back to CBFC, voluntarily trimming it to 2 hours, 51 minutes, and 44 seconds — not out of choice, but to avoid more pointless delays. Creativity clearly takes a backseat when you’re forced to play by the censor board’s outdated rulebook.

Let’s be real — the CBFC isn’t “protecting Indian culture.” They’re babysitting an audience that’s already far more exposed to bold content on OTT and social media. If a few seconds of a bikini shot can shake the moral fabric of the nation, maybe the problem isn’t the movie… it’s the people making these absurd rules.
